Happy Birthday, Grandpa Steve (117), and Dr. Freud (160)

May5th would have been my grandfather's 117th birthday.  He was a wonderful man, who often contributed to my doll collection.  He and my grandmother, who loved dolls but didn't really have any as a child, would do their own shopping.  For holidays, I'd get a shoe box filled with all kinds of little dolls from them, and money to buy more.   There were many international dolls at my grandparent's house, now my parents' house.  Those dolls helped start my collection.

Freud whose "The Uncanny" influenced a lot of studies in dolls, automatons, and other artificial intellegence [The Uncanny Valley, Eva Marie Sims; "Uncanny Dolls"] collected ancient dolls, figurines, and artifacts.  You can see some of them online.
