American Doll and Toy Museum is open this Saturday, 11 to 3. We're also open by appointment. Our number is on our Facebook Page, also American Doll and Toy Museum. We have a small gift shop display set up, with lovely small trinkets for mom. You can enjoy our fun, historical museum of toys, dolls, paper airplanes, vintage books, antiques, doll houses, miniatures, rockets, cars, and planes, and shop for Mom!! We're down the street from great restaurants, too, including Igor's, next to Saukie Golf Course. If you love a Halloween/Horror theme all year, try Igor's! On the golf course property is the little stone house, c. 1845, where the legendary Mrs. Helen Burkhiser gave programs on Laura Ingalls Wilder. She actually met Laura, and had a scarf Laura gifted her.
I could't have had this collection without my mother, grandmothers, Aunt Connie, and the other women in my family. my adopted "mom" Aunt Rose made dolls, and even the wonderful men in my family bought and made dolls and doll houses for me, as well as other toys.
My mom always gave me a little gift on Mother's day, because she said that I was the one one made her a mother. We always made a big deal of it, and I surprised her one year driving through tornado alley from Carbondale to get to see her.
I celebrate all great women in doll making, and all women who love and care for others, whether they are married, or whether they are even biological mothers. I am a step mother, but he is my son, as much as any one, and I am a fur baby mom, and wouldn't trade my babies for anything.
Happy Mother's Day to all my friends, especially those excellent women who give so much of themselves to all.
Here are some photos to enjoy! Love to all!
